VIA Day 4

yooo i jus realised i forgot to update on VIA Day 4 heh

sooo Day 4 was kinda tiring for our legs cuz we stood for quite long AHAHAHHA

duckaicat, nonsy, charleflower, yinyin, sadhvi, lingsi and i wen for Day 4, the last day of VIA whew. ytd we had Hestia Ma'ams and Astraia Ma'ams with us

so firstly, duck, nonsy, sadhvi and i wen to unpack baskets to put them with newspapers den we wen into the itchen once we were done and while we were unpacking, charleflower, yinyin and lingsi were packing the styrofoam boxes into plastic bags. aft tat, duck, nonsy, sadhvi and i wen to the kitchen to help pack the styrofoam boxes but duck wen to pack the food so the rest of us packed the boxes. duck packs the food in the boxes, sadhvi passed the boxes to nonsy and me, we pack the boxes, charleflower ties the plastic bags up and yinyin brings the plastic bags out to the delievery area yay great teamwork !!! :)

and aft tat we wen to eat yay the nuggets were awesome and we jus sat at the table doing nth and chatting and playing with each other but someone came and said they needed us to help to bring styrofoam boxes from the truck into the centre so we wen and help and aft tat we came back and continued playing and chatting with each other and soon we were told to get our bags to leave wooo we left early ! :p

yea... tats all i guess... heh kay byeee tats all for now ! :)

VIA DAY 3 ( no.2 )

I know someone else (deon) has blogged about the same topic yesterday, but that wont staph me from adding mine cuz I feel like it. Day 3, so 1 more day left (day 4). So close yet so far. Jeez.

 

Please enjoy your read. I noe im not as gud at writing gr8 and interesting reflections, but im givin it a go at ma best so yay.

 

So I was the first to arrive yesterday, an I saw no one for like soo long & I thought I had came on the wrong date lmao, so I called up Charlene, and wellz, she was still "at the mrt" and judging from it he would obvs be late but its okay cuz I now knew that there would be VIA. Then I saw them, my squadmates who were comin 4 tdy ('cept Charlene). Then I saw a ma'am approaching in the opposite direction and I was like omygawd its gonna be so awkward. I then heard frm my squadmates that Charlene 'just woke up' when they called her hahaha. 

 

Then we went in & started doin ''real work''.

 

Least tdy wasn't as bad as the previous days, esp day 1. That day pretty much sucked with cutting & dealin with rotten cabbage, or cutting other veggies, whatever.

 

First task-- Help sort out bittergouds and eww, many had seeds and sludge spilling out gross.

Second task--Wash the veg was actually fun but I kept ''killing the veg'' by breaking them in half. Oops im so clumsy. 

Third task--Then sukainah, nurul and ling si stayed at the back to cut veg while the rest of us went to the dining hall to clean the hall. We mopped and swept but we mostly sluffed on the job oopsy. Then we just stood around doin nothing productive when we were done. But we did a great job too, in my  opinion.

Fourth task-- Making drinkss yippy we made rose syrup (drink) and soya bean milk. We got to taste them too yummy :) Couldn't stop helping ourselves to a lil more, then brought a cup or so of each out to let those "cutters" taste them. They liked them yayyy... 

 

Then amanda and deon went to the back to take over duckaicat and nurul. hope they had fun

 

Then Charlene and I  went to mop up the kitchen, after that the chiller/freezer, forgetting[intentionally and unintetionlly at the same time] to tell others where we went.

Actually it was kinda fun, cuz it was pretty cold in there and we gotta wear jackets. We just had to "sweep away the water on the floor, and it was quite an uphill task as we had to suck up the water into an instrument and then drain it in a bucket. Aiyo, why no drain ah? It would be so much easier, no offense. Then we went innovative and found a much faster way to clear up the water. I nearly slipped a couple of times gee. Gives me the chills thinking what would hv happened if I did--broken back, possible paralysis an a wet butt. Thank goodness that dint happen. But my shoe soles had holes so the water seeped in and wet my socks with yucky water. :'(

We were kinda hoping others wont be able to find us, cuz we dint wanna share our new-found task with them, so that's kinda why we didn't tell anyone about our whereabouts/lil "hideout". We r so selfish. Sorry kiddos! Then when we were almost there, almost, we had to go 4 su called Charlene and told her we had to go. That's when we realised how the rest had be so scared and worried for us, looking around for us fruitlessly for about 15 minutes, including the ma'ams. We are so sorry for this!

When we came out, our glasses were fogged for soo long I felt so damn blind, and both of us wore specs oops. Then I kinda slipped on the floor whoops. Then I had to sweep away water outside AGAIN. But das okay :'(

Then we were told of everything and we felt so sorry yet again & made a mental note to inform abt my whereabouts next time, though I think a tracker can do a better job...

Then we went to the hall to make dough and i think Astraia Ma'ams went to take a break ??? I dunno an I dun care but after a while they told us to go eat and they took over us to make the dough.

BREAK TIME!!!

The food was so goooooood omy and almost all of us gorged on the sausages or nuggets. Almost all of us ate about 10 of those in totaliy lmao. #trugluttons But they r so good and irresistible I cannot even lol. I guess we all stuffed ourselves so shuck full that we didn't even have an appetite lunch left at all haha, esp me.

Then we were dismissed after that. It was raining so heavily oh nooo. Out of 8 of us, 4 brought umbrellas while the others didn't jeez. Just right man. So we ended up sharing umbrellas, and I shared mine with su. I reckon we were the chattiest pair. Instead of the Maze Runners from the Maze, we are the Rain Runners from Artemis hahahaha. Dumb joke dude. We didn't exactly run though. All of us had wet shoes and socks after that. Deon was like "I can feel the water in my shoes eww". Yea, we had been squelching in wet shoes, an lets say it was so fun(not).

For me it didn't realy matter cuz my shoes and socks are already soaked with garbage [I slipped right be4 we left yet again(!)] and cabbage water hahaha so funny.

So I guess this is the end. Till next Monday's last VIA session. Hope it will be the best one of all four, but I know im hoping against hope. Hope u enjoyed reading my EXTRA-long post tho

VIA Day 3

woooo yallozzz peepysss

the button is back for the first hand experience of VIA Day 3 :D

tdy was alot of toggling arnd of jobs ahahahah

tdy, duckaicat, nurul, amanda, ling si, charlene, sadhvi and yin yin (plus me ofc) wen for VIA, udhaya was sick so she din come (gws udhaya!)

so first, we wen to the back to help sort out veg (bitterguord? idk how spell) ALL THE SEEDS WERE ALL COMING OUT. aft sorting, we washed the veg. den duckaicat, nurul and ling si stayed at the back to cut veg while the rest of us wen to the dining hall to clean the hall :0 we mopped and swept and aft tat we lazed arnd (oops) cuz there's nth to do -.-''  den the uncle let us make drinksss omyyy we made rose syrup and soya bean milk

charlene was so epic omy ahahahah wen an auntie pointed to the soya bean milk and ask charlene in chinese "这是豆奶吗？" (is this soya bean milk?) she heard it as a very weird sentence "这是倒水吗？" (is this pouring water?) ahhaahah omy charlene (CHARLEFLOWER)

okay aft making drinks we lepak again cuz there's nth to do again

den amanda and i decided to go to the back to take over duckaicat and nurul cuz we too bored ahahahah

cutting veg this time was a muchhhh btr experience :p

aft cutting veg we (duck, nurul, amanda and i) wen back to the hall to help make curry puff dough <3 (SOOOO FUNNNN) den charleflower and yinyin wen to mop the kitchen

and smth happened halfway im not gg to say it ahahaahh but plz rmb next time must tell okay :) we got so worried and scared omy

den we wen back to making dough and i think Astraia Ma'ams wen to eat ??? idk ahhahah but aft a while they told us to go eat and they took over us to make the dough

AC Reflections !!

HELLO WORLD.

It's me. I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet. Nah jk, this isn't some Adele tribute. Yoz, I'm Alyssa. The coolest nicest one in Artemis.

So AC was last two weeks? It was fun, enjoyable, very, how do you phrase it, impactful. I mean, come on, I'm still thinking about it after a week. My memory is horrible, but around two weeks. That's long. So, where do we start?

WARNING!

My reflections will probably be the longest, most boring thing you've ever read. You might waste 5 minutes reading this. I mean, look at how much time you spent already reading up to here. Feel free to stop RIGHT HERE.

It was 8 (?) in the morning when I reached school. I planned to meet Deon at 7 but HAHA, I woke up late. It was damn awkward, Hestia Ma'ams were so panicky and we ( Deon, Sukainah, Charlene and  I ) were sitting down, somehow very calm. I DON'T KNOW HOW OR WHY. When more people came, that's when the chaos started. I also forgot to print the attendance list. Whoops. You see, this is why you don't prepare for camp last minute. Astraia Ma'ams were RIGHT beside us at the computers, so Deon, Sukainah and I panicked and went to the bookshelves HAHAHA. Yeah, we printed the attendance list and ran out of the library, because Alyssa cannot stand awkwardness. So after we campers packed everything, we sat down in our groups and practiced role call. We also had a pep talk ( mainy groups 1 and 2 group 3 was very far away and idk about group 4 ). sO we fell in, and after that we had muster parade? It was cool, I mean we learnt new drills, wore our full uni for the first time. We then went to the classroom, and yeah.

DAY 1 
IT WAS HECTIC MAN. The test - I'm pretty sure I failed. We also went through changing parade - something I'm not a fan of. ( If you're reading this, you should know that during camp, you don't really feel the need to pee. ) So things happened dadada, and we got knocked down. Man, memories keep flooding in. OH HOW COULD I FORGET. CRIME NIGHT. BEST THING EVER. The school is creepy at night though. The dogs ugh. Here's the story:
We campers are supposed to find out the truth behind the death of Baby Chucky. We got to interview Chucky's mother and the maid. We were supposed to find clues. So skipskipskipskip, Baby Chucky's father was in debt, the loansharks threatened the maid, the baby died of food poisoning. Bee Kim was damn smart, she figured out like 69% of the things correctly. Okay so after nightwalk, we went to the Sapphire room ( CIs room ), and jokes were told. Let's just say, Bee Kim is horrible. We also watched Mulan! Well halfway, Ma'ams stopped playing it since it was already 11.30(?). I was dead already I wanted to sleep so bad or move but Ma'am was in front of me so I couldn't move. My legs hurt like hell + I was sleepy I didn't want to move or anything.

DAY 2

Okay I forgot what happened today, all I remember was that it was a very slack day. Ma'ams had an activity called Blockbuster(?). HINT HINT IT WAS FUN BUT BABY FOOD IS DISGUSTING + IF YOU'RE WET AND EXPOSED TO THE WORLD IT'S VERY COLD. oh THE 2ND DAY WAS CAMPFIRE. IT WAS FUN, I ALMOST FELL AND I FORGOT MY LINES. If you observe, my posts are getting shorter because 1. i am sleepy, 2. i need to charge my phone, 3. IDK WHATS HAPPeniNG. but we had mass dancing and wew wew wew. we also went home that day i slept for 14 hours hAHAHA ok

VIA DAY 1

im back heh with the Day 1 experience jeng jeng jeng

(WARNING: There are some really disgusting stuff going to be said so if you're someone who can't stand disgusting stuff, STOP RIGHT HERE. if u dun wanna heed my advice, dun blame me if u start puking *evil laughs* you have been warned...)

sooo, Day 1 at Willing Hearts was with Hestia Ma'ams!

we waited for the Alyssa who was still showering at 7 (tsk tsk)

we went in later cuz she took too long ahhaahhaha

we went to the kitchen to cut veggg

at first, it was okay (?) i dun rly rmb the order of the veg we cut but i rmb we cut cauliflower, radish and cabbage. i shall say the bad stuff before saying the gd stuff :)

so. the cabbage. was, HORRID. the box Gin Wen and i took was i think the WORST box! wen u open the box, A DECOMPOSING SMELL CAME OUT AND FLIES FLEW OUT. wen u peel the DECOMPOSING LEAVES out, SLIME DRIPS OUT. we had to cut 10 of these. Alyssa, Gin Wen, Amanda, Charlene, Bee Kim, Yin Yin and i were SO GROSSED OUT.

soooo, the radish was so gd to do! first we used the peeler to peel the skin (izzit the skin ahhahah) out (the peeler is so fun to use <3) den we chop off the head and the butt of the radish, den we wash it, den we chop it into half, and den another half, and den wash and WE'RE DONEEE <3 seee i told u radish so fun rite :)

halfway thru VIA, everybody was so dead ahahahaha

anyways, cutting veg (esp the cabbage, ew.) was a so super memorable experience for me (memorable has its bad ways too ahem ahem cabbage ahem)

VIA DAY 2

YO PEEPSSYYSSSS

its the button again huehuehue

okay anyways, as yall can see from the title, its VIA Day 2 at Willing Hearts with Astraia Ma'ams! (shld i put Day 1 too? yea maybe i shall put in another post hahahahah)

okay soooo, tdy was so much more btr den day 1 cuz i did packing food with Alyssa and Nurul with Ma'am Jane and Ma'am Denise (i think Charlene, Yin Yin, Amanda, Gin Wen and Sadhvi packed for a little while before proceeding to cut veg)

soooo, this volunteer worker from Willing Hearts packed the rice (she's damn niceee omyyy i think her name is Sue <3 ), i mainly packed the veg and the fish/nuggets while Alyssa packed the frozen cheesballs/cheese slices while a girl from Raffles packed the styrofoam box in the big container.

poor charlene stabbed her thumb and yin yin sliced her thumb (ouchy ouch ouch)

and Sue is damn nice and friendly omyyyy she said she'll try to speak with the director of Willing Hearts to try to let us deliver the packed food when i told her we have never delievered before

looking at all the 5000 packets of food packed up and ready to be sent off to let the poor, the elderly, the disabled really creates a sense of accomplishment in me :) even tho my hand aches rn from all the non stop scooping of veg and my fingers still sort of sting a little cuz of the super hot nuggets and fish, it was really an awesome experience and i hope we can pack food again tmr! (and maybe see Sue again cuz as i said, SHE'S DAMN NICE HUEHUEHUE)

ANNUAL CAMP 2K15

yo peepsss! its De-On Button (this nickname was by duckaicat, dont ask me how she came up with it)

this shall be a reflection on the squad blog + individual reflection to be handed up to sec 3 Ma'ams. :p

my phone could not write this blog entry sooo i had to use my computer -.-

as y'all can see, this shall be abt ARTEMIS'S FIRST CAMP TOGETHEERR !!! (and what some of us did on the day before camp huehuehue)

so, on the day before camp, alyssa, sukainah, bee kim and i stayed back in school after AC Prep to do labelling and polishing of boots together in the canteen. we were panicking like mad and alyssa and bee kim were so pissed that their boots could not shine no matter how much they polish, until i taught them a faster and more effective way :p after staying in school until like... 3, alyssa and i went to sukainah house to continue labelling and iron and sew. at sukainah house, we had alot of questions and we called Ma'am and Ma'am did not pick up, so when Ma'am called back, alyssa and i freaked out and we were tried to silently scream at each other for the paper but i think Ma'am heard... oopss! okay after that we continued with AC stuff and at 6+, alyssa and i left sukainah house to go homeee. at 8+, we started skyping each other (alyssa, sukainah, bee kim and i) while packing our stuff and cutting twine (we needed 3 balls of twine omy) when we had finished skyping, it was already 12+, close to 1 (sorry Ma'ams)

so, on Artemis's first day of camp, i came early (because im kiasu) but i think i came too early... anyways, Artemis slowly streamed in and by 8+, most of our squadmates have arrived! some of us were not prepared and alot of last minute things surfaced. for example, some of our squadmates did not label and some did not bring the coke bottle. one of them did not know that hangers and pegs were needed, put ITS OKAY! because, luckily, with the help of everyone in Artemis, we managed to settle everything by 9:45am! we fell in at 10 (on time!) we had muster parade during the start of the camp so we had to change into our full uniform and Artemis got our name badges! it was our (Artemis and Hestia Ma'ams) first time changing into full uniform so we were all very excited! after muster parade i could not really remember what happened, but we had to change into our full uniform after our lunch for our campcraft theory test! it was so scary. after our Hestia Ma'ams and Astraia Ma'ams left, Ma'am Yolanda brought us to the toilet to teach us how to wear our uniform properly so that it is presentable. after teaching us, we were supposed to have campcraft practical test but it was raining, so as our Hestia Ma'ams and Astraia Ma'ams left to do PYA, Artemis went to the AVT to write "letters" to all our squadmates. after that, we were told to change into our full uniform, but we took 13 minutes! so we were told to change back into our pt kit. this happened continuously as we changed from full uniform to pt and back to full uniform and i have a feeling this was changing parade. to be honest, everybody might think that i am insane or sadistic, but changing parade is really fun, especially when Artemis went from 13 minutes to 5 min 15 sec !!! i was so happy i wanted to jump around waving my hands in the air! (dont judge) i feel that changing parade is really effective in helping us improve our timings! after dinner, we had... CRIME NIGHTTT ! we were supposed to find out how Baby Chucky died. Our Astraia Ma'ams did a really good job in planing this crime night as i thoroughly enjoyed myself (im sure all the campers did too!!!) apparently, Baby Chucky died from milk contamination. poor poor Baby Chucky. we had CIs Time after crime night and CIs let us watch Mulan 1 until 11:30pm and we were supposed to write a 2 page reflection on the movie according to the questions that CIs gave. at 11:45pm, it was lights out!

so on day 2, i woke up at 5 due to movement in the room (idk how i cant wake up to my alarm but i can wake up when i hear movement...) lots of campers were awake. as it was not 5:45am yet, we decided to write our reflections so that during breakfast there would not be a rush. in the morning, we had pt! whew it was tiring, but it was beneficial ! not all of us did our 5BX properly so we had to keep repeating and not alot of us took the initiative to time the 5BX. we had bread and milo for camp breakfast (the milo was fab) and after that i could not really remember what happened but we had initiative games where we played tug of war and "soccer". my group (group 4) won group 2 and we had to versus group 3 but sadly we lost :( but, in soccer, group 4 won group 3! yay! we had blockbuster, which was set up by CIs. Blockbuster was really fun, as Artemis, Hestia Ma'ams and Astraia Ma'ams got the chance to bond together through games! after blockbuster, we began preparing for the best part of the camp: THE CAMPFIREEE! we were really enthu and the camp was so fun even though it was in the hall. the story line by Astraia Ma'ams was really nice!!! my group (group 4) and group 2 did the dance while group 1 and group 3 did skits. i had alot of fun when dancing and i would like to thank Zephyr Ma'ams for cheering for us even though our dance was not really good. they gave us motivation which all of us are thankful for! :) and OMG. ASTRAIA MA'AMS DANCE. I CANNOT. IT. IS. SO. AMAZING. THEY ARE LEGIT DANCING GOALS. if only we could dance as well as Astraia Ma'ams! but its okay, i think we all put in our effort to make the dance as nice as possible! group 1 and group 3 skits were really funny, bringing more light and humour to the campfire! that night after campfire, we had fire drill. omg it was so. bad. i really just want to do fire drill all over again. Ma'am and CIs came into our room and blew the whistle for 5 minutes and NOBODY woke up. we took 17 minutes to assemble at the FLEC and that does not count the time we took the find the casualties. Ma'ams told us to write a 2 page reflection on the fire drill and hand in up to them after breakfast and they told us to go back to sleep. the fire drill was so bad. next year, Artemis will teach the sec 1s what to expect during a fire drill and our experiences, so as not to have the same situation repeated again.

finally, on day 3, we had RT in the morning! we played captain's ball for RT and it was a tie after 7 minutes of playing! after RT we had breakfast (bread and milo) and we changed into our VCA tees (which stank so badly due to the first day sweat and it was kept in a ziplock bag) for a water game! Ma'ams were really creative, using the tingy which is used to keep the water in to pour everything out on their opponents. group 3 won this water game. after the water game, we had pails of extra water left and the first pail which was full of water went on me aahhahah Gin Wen also suffered a pail full of water huehuehue. after that we had debrief and prize presentation! group 2 won the most bonded group, group 3 won the best group and Ma'am Xin Yi won the best camper. woohoo good job to everybody!!! :D

we had to change to full uniform for closing parade (is this what its called?) and after that we went homeeee

to be honest, i thought that camp would be tiring and no fun at all, but i was proved wrong. i had LOTS of fun and im looking forward to ATC and AC next year! im kinda missing camp now :(

proud/fun facts:
1) WE IMPROVED FROM 13 MIN TO 5 MIN FOR CHANGING WOOHOOOO
2) CAMPFIRE WAS FAB
3) alot of us are having PCT (post camp trauma) for example, when im slow in whatever i do and my mum asks me to hurry up, the first thing i say is "Yes Ma'am, Sorry, Ma'am." (this is just my example, Artemis has their own examples too ahahah)
4) sleeping in between Ma'ams was quite awkward, especially if you turn and you see a Ma'am's sleeping face staring back at you aahhahahah
5) last but not least, CAMP IS FUN !!! :D

Annual Camp 2k15

HELLO INTERNET

YOO it's Duckaicat(duck+panda+cat) aka Queen SoUp...lmao jk

It's been almost a week since camp ended. I'm quite sad about that actually. I miss camp:( 

SO ABOUT CAMP..actually before camp...we were so panicky the day before. Basically, we(Deon, Alyssa, Beekim and I) spent the whole day labeling, polishing our boots and packing. Polishing was tiring, I still don't think they were shiny enough. I went to iron my uniform I think thrice?? IT STILL WASN'T STRAIGHT. And ooops we didn't sleep at 10pm either.

Okay so camp..

Camp was definitely an amazing experience for me. I'm sure for the other campers(Artemis&Hestia Ma'ams) as well. Through camp, we bonded as campers and also as a unit through the games we had. Crime Night and Campfire Night was incredible !! We had to solve how Baby Chucky died. Apparently he died from contaminated milk. Poor Baby Chucky. Oh Campfire Night was the best night I had in camp. The campers had to prepare skits and a dance to our own remix. My group(Group 2)+Group 4 was chosen for dance. I had so much of fun dancing, I feel like I could do it again! Actually, I forgot a part of the dance...ooops. I was so nervous during the dance. Also, we didn't had much space dancing as we keep moving back:( I had to do the whole solo part because one of the ma'am wasn't sure of the steps. I was so scared I'll forget. And not to forget, Astraia ma'ams' performance was AWESOME. I love it so much, especially their dance! They look so cool while dancing omg.

Okay so that was the best part about camp. Now, for the toughest.
Changing Parade was damn tiring. I felt like my legs were about to break. Oh and some people  were laughing at us and didn't give way???(ok let's forget about them). BUT our timing did improve from 12min+ to around 5min. I was so happy and proud of Artemis I legit felt like crying. OH THEN THERE WAS FIRE DRILL. Omg we didn't even wake up when ma'am blew the whistle in our room. They were so mad at us I swear.

Okay some random things..
Its was awkward sleeping beside ma'ams lol

Ok last thing I'll talk about.
Before camp we already very stress. Someone never label, cut twine, bring coke bottle or her pegs. Omg I was damn pissed BUT ITS OK AC IS OVER. +she had the whole day before camp to pack while we(Alyssa, Deon, Beekim and I) went to buy other stuff.
